John Daniel
American poet, essayist, memorist, itinerant creative writing teacher. Daniel makes his living as a writer and itinerant teacher in workshops and writer-in-residence positions around the country. He the author of two poetry collections, and his poems have appeared in many reviews, magazines and anthologies. Since 1988, he has served as poetry editor of Wilderness magazine. He has published five non-fiction books including Rogue River Journal: A Winter Alone, which was awarded a 2006 PNBA Book Award by the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association; The Trail Home, winner of the 1993 Oregon Book Award for Literary Nonfiction; and Looking After: A Son's Memoir, which won the 1997 Oregon Book Award for Literary Nonfiction. Daniel has contributed many essays, articles, and prose to magazines, literary journals, and anthologies. He has won many awards, prizes, residencies, and fellowships including creative writing fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
