Academy Award winning American screenwriter and director. William "Bill" Condon, who began his career as a film journalist, came to prominence when he won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay with his film Gods and Monsters, which he directed and adapted for the screen from a novel written by Christopher Bram. He was nominated for the same award for writing the screenplay for the 2002 critically acclaimed musical Chicago which won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture. In 2004, he wrote and directed the controversial film Kinsey for which he received further accolades.
