Masterman, J. C. (John). Pearson, Norman Holmes.
The Double-Cross System in the War of 1939-1945.
Publisher: New Haven, Yale UP [1972]. 'Third printing'. xviii, 203 p. Foreword by Norman Holmes Pearson, who was in the London OSS office. Masterman tells how British Intelligence, in a program he directed, turned every German spy and fed controlled information back to Berlin. It was the first glimpse of British intelligence work in WWII and was probably allowed (Official Secrets Act exception granted) because MI5's reputation was so low (after Philby, etc.) that they had to show that they had gotten it right in the past. stock#23116.
