The first volume published in the Seckatary Hawkins series. These boys' stories revolve around a club of boys whose home base is a river bank on the Ohio, with the lead character being the "seckatary" who records their activities. This particular adventure is set in Cuba. Charmingly illustrated by Carll B. Williams. Bound in ribbed-textured cloth over boards with spine and upper board titled in gilt, upper board also has vignette of Seckatary Hawkins with an open book and inkwell in black. A few minor extremity rubs, a bit of darkening along spine and top edge of upper board, otherwise clean and bright with sound hinges. Excellent condition. Fiction & Literature

Book is very clean and bright, with no visible wear aside from several small areas of faint fading/discoloration on the cover. No previous ownership marks. Green illustrated dust jacket has black spine and is in Very Good condition. This is the later edition of the book originally published in 1926. Lovely illustrated endpapers. Publisher: Stewart Kidd Company Cincinnati 1921. Hardcover in gold cloth illustrated binding with gilt lettering. No dust jacket. No previous owner names. Reading Copy condition. Cover has finger soil and light-to-moderate corner wear. Spine lettering is dulled but cover illustration and lettering are good. Front hinge is cracked and wobbly, exposing gauze. Front free endpaper and frontis illustration pages are nearly separated. Text is clean with only minor signs of use. Back paste-down endpaper is cracked at inner hinge but hinge itself is sound. Part of the beloved Seckatary Hawkins series, illustrated with drawings by Carll B. Williams. Enjoyable as a Reading Copy due to condition issues. No Jacket Hardcover Fair
