1.   Xingjian, Gao   Soul Mountain [Signed in Chinese]   Publisher: New York Harper Collins 2000. First American edition A Very Good + copy (corners mildly bumped, spine ends lightly pushed, otherwise Near Fine), in a Fine dust jacket, SIGNED BY GAO XINGJIAN in Chinese on the title page. Gao won the 2000 Nobel Prize in Literature, the first Chinese author to do so. Originally published in Chinese as "Lingshan" about a decade earlier, the novel was translated to English by Mabel Lee and published in the US in 2000. The novel, about a journey to the fabled Lingshan mountain (known as "Soul Mountain" where, according to legend, people would come to pray and would have their prayer's answered), is partially autobiographical and partially fictional. Signed copies of the first printing are rather uncommon and, as best we are able to determine, copies signed by Gao in Chinese are more so. A Very Good + copy, SIGNED BY GAO XINGJIAN. Hardcover Book condition: Very Good +
