Born in South Dakota into an Air Force family, Candice Proctor grew up
exploring the crumbling castles and ancient villages of Europe, and camping
and fishing in the mountains of Oregon and Idaho. Before becoming a writer,
she worked as an archaeologist and university professor. She graduated Phi
Beta Kappa, summa cum laude with a BA in Classics, and has an MA and Ph.D.
in European history. In addition to her novels, she is also the author of a
nonfiction work on women in the French Revolution.
